This single owner BMW Z8 has been cared for by a longtime BMW enthusiast, as part of a larger classic BMW collection.
With all documentation from new, including original window sticker, sales brochures, mailings, and informational manuals, this car is one of the best and most comprehensive original cars available. At the asking price, this package includes the original Henrik Fisker drawings of the Z8, signed by Henrik himself.
The hard top was removed at delivery, and has been stored in the original BMW protective fleece lined cover, on the BMW hard top stand since delivery day in a climate controlled garage. The car includes 2 sets of original Z8 wheels – the chrome wheels with Bridgestone Potenza tires as shown, which were installed at ~12,000 miles, and a second set of original silver Z8 wheels. The car has been stored under a custom fitted cover, using the BMW original battery maintainer since new.
As a testament to the enthusiast owner, the car did receive a hard wired Valentine 1 Radar detector, which is mounted via a sun-visor clip on the drivers sun visor. No modifications to any panels were required to facilitate the installation, and it can be removed for 100% original appearance should the new owner desire.
Black and red Coco Mats grace the floors, protecting the original carpeting underneath. It’s worth noting the complete lack of any marring or marks on the leather trimmed foot pad on the driver transmission tunnel, where one’s foot would rub when on the throttle pedal.
The car was only driven in nice dry weather, as shown by the condition of the undercarriage of the car. All of BMW’s original chassis marks & grease pen marks from assembly are still present and intact. This is not a car that has been scrubbed/cleaned/and detailed in an attempt to make it appear pristine. The headlights are original, and absent of any fogging/hazing as often seen on these cars.
During 2004 as conversations of frame rail deformation arose, the owner elected to remove the car from road use, and it was put into long term storage in his climate controlled garage from 2005-2007, until BMW released the Performance Package update with chassis reinforcements. In 2007, BMW installed the Performance Package reinforcements, and the car was returned to limited use on sunny days.
As a member of the BMW Z8 Club since inception, the owner has accumulated and saved all memorabilia, brochures, and documents provided by the club and BMW since new. In 2003, the owner was able to acquire Henrik Fisker’s original drawings of the Z8, at a cost of almost $10,000. This is the ultimate wall art for any Z8 owner, and stands above the reproduction prints as provided to each buyer of a Z8 from BMW. This will be included with the sale of the car, at the asking price.
In preparation for sale, the car received a complete fluid service in December of 2017, along with replacement trunk lid support shocks.
Cosmetic blemishes include a small dent on the emergency brake handle as shown, and a small mark on the sound deadening mat on the firewall, as shown.
